The Enugu State Progressive Union (ESPU) was founded in Galway over ten years ago by a small group of well-meaning indigenes of Enugu State who shared a vision of unity, cultural pride, and mutual support. Motivated by a desire to strengthen community ties and promote the rich traditions of Enugu State, they established a platform that would bring people together through shared values of love, peace, and understanding.
Since its founding, ESPU has remained committed to preserving the cultural and linguistic heritage of Enugu indigenes and promoting African culture from the Igbo perspective. Guided by ideals of peace, solidarity, and unity in diversity, the union has grown into a vibrant community that encourages integration and understanding among the Enugu diaspora and beyond.
Over the years, ESPU has organized numerous cultural and community events, in partnership with the Galway County Public Participation Network, to showcase Enugu traditions, promote well-being, and inspire entrepreneurship among members and other local communities.
